I have know since childhood that artistic expression was essential to who I am. Throughout my life, my art has continually linked my experiences and desires with expression. My art is the translational, the essence of, who I am.
My first encounter with the medium of glass come in 1990. I was completely taken by this incredible medium. It became the sole focus of my work and from that time forward I have continually worked on two separate collections in glass.
As I see it, both collections balance my life experiences. One collection speaks of my “Roots” the other of my “Wings”.
My “African Blankets” series is based on my years and travels in Southern Africa. This country will be forever in my heart. Having lived in South Africa with my family for many years this is where my childhood memories where made, and where I return every few years to revisit. I have an endearing connection to this country and its people. My African Blanket series is a homage to the beauty of Africa its tribal heritage.
My “Prana” series is based on my personal practice and quest for enlightenment. This too is a journey. One which lives in my heart and my spirit. A journey which has no beginning and no end. It provides me with a sense of purpose and gratitude for life.
I envision enlightenment as brightly colored light, the since of tranquility. The slient place where we find peace and connection to the source which is life. “Prana” series is my expression of enlightenment.
I continually work between these series. Through this practice I balance both my personal quest for enlightenment and life expe-riences which are equally important in my life.
